Wave 1

Captain Jack Harkness

Based in Cardiff Jack is the leader of the Torchwood team, keeping an eye on the space-time rift that runs through the city.

Gwen Cooper

Ex-police officer Gwen joined the Torchwood team and is the Liaison between Torchwood and the local police force.

Weevil

An extraterrestrial species that have been given the name Weevil by the Torchwood team since communication with them is limited and their true identity is still unknown.

Cyberwoman

Lisa is the former lover of Ianto Jones when they both worked at Torchwood One in London and she was partially converted by the Cybermen at the Battle of Canary Wharf.  Ianto has kept her in a holding cell at the Hub in Cardiff in the hope of reversing the process.

Wave 2

Captain John Hart

Captain John Hart is a rogue Time Agent of the now disbanded Time Agency and former partner of Jack Harkness, both professionally and sexually.

Ianto Jones

Ianto's original role was to manage the clean-up operations concerning Torchwood's various activities his job description later expanded to joining the team on field missions.  Having transferred to Torchwood Three from the head branch, Torchwood One, in London after the Battle for Canary Wharf involving the Cybermen and the Daleks, and of course The Doctor.

Toshiko Sato

Toshiko is Torchwood Three's technical expert and computer specialist.  A genius, she was recruited into Torchwood after being imprisoned by UNIT, from whom she stole design plans for a "sonic modulator".

Blowfish

A humanoid, bipedal alien the blowfish holds part of Captain John's puzzle box.   Overcome by Earth's pleasures, the blowfish takes cocaine, steals a sports car and takes a teenage girl hostage, only to attract the attention of Torchwood and the local media, and so leading to its eventual demise.
