The
A-Team
by

 |
In 1972 a crack commando unit
was sent to prison by a military court for a crime they didn't commit.
These men promptly escaped from a maximum security stockade to the Los
Angeles underground. Today, still wanted by the Government, they
survive as soldiers of fortune. If you have a problem, if no-one else
can help and if you can find them, maybe you can hire the
A-Team.
So started the action series
the A-Team, the show in which, despite all the gunfire, nobody was ever
hurt!
This is
Corgi model CC87502 of the
A-Team van together with a hand painted figure of B A Baracus.

Dad's Army
Dad’s Army, written by Jimmy Perry
and David Croft, was a BBC sitcom about the Home Guard during
the Second World War. Originally broadcast between 1968
and 1977, it ran for 80 episodes, and although the series over
30 years old it is still regularly on our TV screens.
The British Home Guard consisted of local
volunteers otherwise ineligible for military service, usually
owing to age, and as such the series starred several veterans of
British film, television and stage, including;
- Arthur Lowe (1915–82),
- John Le Mesurier (1912–83),
- Arnold Ridley (also a veteran playwright;
1896–1984)
- John Laurie (1897–1980).
Relative youngsters in the regular cast were
- Ian Lavender (b.1946),
- Clive Dunn (b.1920), who was made-up to
play the elderly Jones,
- James Beck (1929–1973), the latter dying
suddenly part way through the programme’s long run despite
being one of the youngest cast members.
The Home Guard platoon was based in the
fictional seaside resort of Walmington-on-Sea. Located on
the channel coast, the notional "front line" following
the evacuation of Dunkirk. Based in the Church Hall the
platoon guarded the coast and the towns strategic points, such
as the Novelty Rock Emporium and the Marigold Tea Rooms.
