Captain Jack Harkness,
Torchwood's team leader. Jack is an ex-Time Agent who
unsuccessfully tried to con The Doctor & Rose. After joining
The Doctor in his adventures Jack changed from conman to hero.
He went on to transform Torchwood as a tribute to the Doctor.
Captain Jack, though is not his real identity and his origins are
obscure, just the way he wants it. However, he has vast
practical experience of working with aliens and dealing with crisis
situations. He has come through a lot of scrapes, always
emerging intact thanks to 'Bad Wolf' Rose Tyler and this has made him
fearless in the presence of danger. In fact, he's usually ready
with a flirtatious quip whatever the threat. And could he be the
Face of Boe?
Gwen Cooper, a former
police officer, brings procedural skills to the team and she is
recognised as Torchwood's second in command. Gwen possesses a
sensitivity that helps the team greatly in dealing with victims.
She is grounded, straightforward and very determined, and in the
shadowy world in which Torchwood operates she often acts as the team's
conscience.
Doctor Owen Harper
trained as a medical doctor, but this expertise has grown massively
since joining Torchwood. As well as attending to the team's
emergency medical needs and working on the human victims of alien
activity, he has gained invaluable expertise in alien anatomy. A
very self confident individual, many would say too
over-confident for his own good sometimes, his commitment to Torchwood
has never been doubted.
Toshiko Sato, Torchwood's
technical expert, is quiet but highly intelligent. Her role is to
assess the potential application of alien technology for humanity's
use. Toshiko also has a great knowledge and understanding of
practical physics, which makes her useful as a field agent. She
is focused and intensely professional individual, though very
sensitive.
Ianto Jones is
Torchwood's administrator. His knowledge is eclectic and
his attention to detail second to none with an uncanny ability to
anticipate the team's needs before they have arisen. Although he
dislikes it when this remarkable efficiency is taken for granted,
Ianto is however more than capable of undertaking field work for
Torchwood.
