Bring Me Sunshine!

Of all the British comedy double acts Morecambe (tall, glasses) and Wise (short, fat, hairy legs') are arguably the greatest that have trodden the boards.

Their TV shows ran from 1961 to 1983 and they also found time to  star in four films, as well as appear in their theatre shows.  There is so much to remember from their TV shows but it was the Christmas Day Shows that were the highlights.  Many thought that Christmas wasn't the same without the Morecambe and Wise Show.  The 1977 show, watched by 28 million, is the most watched comedy programme on British TV, a record in this multi-channel world that will probably never be broken.

As a carry-over from their music hall days, Morecambe and Wise sang and danced at the end of each show, poignantly, this tradition was abandoned when Eric's heart condition prevented him dancing: the comic solution was for Eric to walk across the stage with his coat and bag, to wait for the bus home, while Ernie danced by himself.

Their signature tune was "Bring Me Sunshine".  They either sang this at the end of each show or it was used as a theme tune during the credits.  They did use other songs in their earlier TV shows, notably "Following You Around" and "Don't You Agree".
