Kenneth Charles
Williams (22/2/1926 - 15/4/1988) was born in London and first experienced
life on the stage during the Second World War.
As
a star of 26 Carry On films he was the master of the double entendre, with
his trademark flared nostrils and strident voice. He also had a
successful radio and TV career starring in comedies with Tony Hancock and
Kenneth Horne. He also charmed children with numerous appearances on
Jackanory and as the voice to Willo the Wisp. Combined with a
successful stage career Kenneth Williams was a much sought after actor.
A witty
raconteur he was in great demand on chat shows and also as stand in host on
the Wogan Show. He was a stalwart of the radio series Just
a Minute where he frequently went on for more than a minute!!
