The USS Voyager was constructed at the Utopia Planitia Fleet Yards orbiting Mars and was launched from Earth Station McKinley on stardate 48038.5 in 2371. An Intrepid class starship, Voyager boasts a number of technological revolutions: Bio-neural circuitry, variable geometry warp nacelles and an EMH, Emergency Medical Hologram. The vessel was also the first to test the class 9 warp drive in deep space.
Captain Janeway assumed command shortly before Voyager left spacedock. On her maiden voyage, whilst trying to track down a Maquis ship, Voyager was stranded in the Delta Quadrant. She took seven years to get home.
