Ex-Auror (Dark-wizard-catcher) Mad Eye Moody is credited with filling half the cells in Askaban with Dark wizards.  A member of the Order of the Phoenix, he's  one of the Advance Guard who rescues Harry from Privet Drive before Harry's trial at the Ministry.
