ZENOBIA

Using stealth and guile, Zenobia - a beautiful slave girl in the King of Nemedia's harem - risks her life to help Conan escape from the dungeons where Xaltotun has imprisoned him.  When Conan challenges her, fearing that her assistance may in fact be a trap, Zenobia declares her undying love to Conan, and reveals the inner secrets of her soul.

She gives Conan a sturdy knife that he uses to slay the Haunter of the Pits.  Conan is so impressed with the selfless bravery of this dark-eyed beauty that he vows to return and rescue her.

After Conan defeats Xaltotun and regains his throne, his thoughts return to the brave Zenobia.  He declares, "She was a slave in Nemedia, but I will make her Queen of Aquilonia!"
