Steampunk depicts an era where steam power is still widely used — usually the 19th century and often Victorian era Britain — it incorporates prominent elements of science fiction and fantasy.
Works of steampunk often feature anachronistic technology based on a Victorian perspective of fashion, culture and style. This technology may include such fictional machines as those found in the works of H.G. Wells and Jules Verne or real modern technologies like the computer but depict how they might have developed in an earlier alternate history.
